Louise Leakey

Louise attained her Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Biology from the University of Bristol. Later, she received a PhD degree from the University College, London. Louise is the youngest person to find a hominoid fossil at the age of six years. She often works with her parents as she continues to study the ancient history of the Turkana Basin. She is an assistant research professor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and is the director of public education and outreach for the Turkana Basin Institute in Nariobi, Kenya. She has been behind an initiative to place digital models of the fossil collections in a virtual laboratory AfricanFossils.org where models can be downloaded, 3D Printed or cut in cardboard for reassembly.
